Jesus said, "Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them; for to such
belongs the kingdom of heaven."

Dear Parents of Seventh Grade Students,

I am pleased to announce that Father Jeffrey Kirby, the Parochial Vicar at St.
Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, will be teaching religion to the seventh
graders   second semester.  Both Fr. Kirby and I are quite pleased that Fr. LeBlanc,
our pastor, has agreed to release Fr. Kirby from his parish duties four mornings a
week in order teach regularly this one class at St. Mary’s School.

Fr. Kirby will assume full responsibility for the class beginning Wednesday,
January 16, 2008.  Mrs. Collette Miller, the students’ current religion teacher, will
communicate regularly with Fr. Kirby and be available to step in if Fr. Kirby is called
away for a critical situation.  In order to plan for a smooth transition, Mrs. Miller and
Fr. Kirby have met, already, to discuss the seventh grade course of study.  Fr. Kirby
also has taught one lesson to the students and has visited their class.

Fr. Kirby brings a wealth of knowledge to St. Mary’s School and Parish.  His
undergraduate and graduate level studies, his prior teaching experience at Bishop
England High School in Charleston, and most of all, his desire to share his faith,
knowledge, and experiences with the seventh graders, will bring great energy to the
classroom.

We are most fortunate to learn that our seventh graders have been the grade
selected by Fr. Kirby.  The students were excited today when Mrs. Miller and Fr.
Kirby announced the plans to them.  Please keep Fr. Kirby and the seventh graders in
your prayers as they embark on this journey together.

                                              Sincerely,

                                              Marguerite B. (Peggy) Wertz
