Dear Parents of Seventh Grade Students,
Greetings in the Lord Jesus!
What a remarkable privilege it is to teach a young person to know and love Jesus
Christ! And that privilege is yours every day, and it’s one that you share with St. Mary
Help of Christians Catholic School. It is a privilege that we do not take lightly.
It’s with this understanding and gratitude that I joyfully take on the task of teaching
our seventh grade students the truths of the Gospel and the vocation of Christian
discipleship. I see this responsibility as one that is complementary to your example and
instruction at home, and within the Christian atmosphere of their other subjects and of
the overall school environment.
I want to thank Fr. LeBlanc and Mrs. Wertz for the opportunity to regularly teach in the
parochial school, and to exercise a more active role in the formation of our seventh grade
students. Our task, as parents, teachers, and clergy, is one and the same: to help and
encourage the young members of our community to know, live, and share the Christian
way of life.
This Spring, our subject matter for the seventh grade will be a review of the catechism
and a summary of Christian beliefs. At the beginning of the semester, I’ll be sending you
a summary of our curriculum, classroom protocol, and grade information.
I appreciate the close collaboration and support of Mrs. Wertz and Mrs. Miller. Their
guidance and support are very instructive and helpful.
I look forward to teaching the seventh grade, and to assisting them to discover anew the
riches of God’s glory and the immeasurable depths of his love and wisdom.
Please know of my prayers for you and your families during this Advent and Christmas
season.
Yours in Christ,
Rev. Jeffrey Kirby
