"For every high priest, chosen from among men, is appointed to act on behalf of men in relation to God, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins." Hebrews 5:1

My first couple of years as a seminarian were marked by several serious medical problems, from thyroidism to
gallbladder surgery, etc. Many people were raising questions about my health and possible Ordination.
In August, 2005 (right before Hurricane Katrina hit), two priests of my diocese took me to the Bl. Fr. Seelos Shrine
in New Orleans. They dedicated my health and vocation to Fr. Seelos.
Since that dedication, I have had no medical problems. I am in good health. On October 5, 2006, I was ordained a
transitional deacon in St. Peter’s Basilica. I did not know the diaconal Ordination date until after my visit to New
Orleans. It was a beautiful confirmation of Fr. Seelos’ friendship and protection that my ordination as a deacon
was on his feast day (October 5). As spirtual wisdom would tell us: he chose me before I chose him.
My health has been strong. This past March 18, 2007, I ran the XIII Rome Marathon.
I thank Fr. Seelos for his prayers, protection, and friendship. It is a blessing to have him with me during my
Ordination as a priest, and throughout my future ministry.
Why Blessed Father Seelos?
